This weekend is Mother’s Day. For all of our mothers, past, present and those who are mother’s to be, it is a day to recognize and celebrate all that being a mother represents. If you are a mother of a youngster that has a doll, why not celebrate by sharing a tea party together. What a wonderful opportunity to spend time together creatively. The skirt features pink pastel plaid fabric and is constructed with a flat waist panel and two tiers of gently ruffled fabric. A hook and loop closure in the back of the skirt allows for easy dressing. A soft pink cotton ribbed shirt with a peek-a-boo faux camisole compliments the plaid skirt. This weekend is Cinco De Mayo, celebrated on May 5^th. This holiday celebrates the Battle of Puebla, where a small Mexican army defeated a very well equipped French army on May 5, 1862. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the United States in much the same way St. Patrick’s Day, Oktoberfest, and Chinese New Year are celebrated. Parades, Mexican dancing and traditional Mexican foods will be enjoyed regardless of your ethnic background!

Why not invite your friends and their 18 inch dolls to a Cinco De Mayo party! There are wonderful recipes available on line for tacos, salsas, queso dip and chips and great activities for a fun and festive party.

Tip of the Day for 18″ Doll Collectors

This weekend is the Kentucky Derby. Why not enjoy a traditional Mint Julep that is perfect for all ages! This “cocktail” contains no alcohol and is easy to make. Totally refreshing and totally Derby! So get your favorite sun hat ready, grab your favorite 18” doll and cheer your favorite horse on to victory! Enjoy this recipe for a non-alcoholic, festive beverage.

Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups cold water
5 cups crushed ice
2-1/2 cups chilled ginger ale
3/4 cup lemon juice
10 mint springs

Directions:
Mix sugar, cold water, lemon juice and at least six mint sprigs in a bowl and let stand for 45 minutes. Strain mixture and remove mint. In a gallon pitcher, add the ginger ale to the sugar mixture. Pour into individual glasses with crushed ice and garnish with lemon slices and additional mint.
